Recovery of Federal coal under new Federal Indian lands permit CO -0106A by <br />underground mining methods from 1,224 acres of Federal lease COC -62920 <br />underlying surface lands that are owned in fee, by the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. <br />No surface disturbance is proposed within the new Federal Indian lands permit <br />area since all coal recovery will be via underground mining methods. All coal <br />will be processed and shipped via the new support facilities being built for the <br />King II mine located in the Colorado State permit area in: <br />Township 35 North, Range I 1 West, New Mexico P.M. <br />Section 19, lots 4, 5, E'/2SW'/a, SETA; <br />Township 35 North, Range 12 West, New Mexico P.M. <br />Section 24, lots 1, 2, SWIASEI/a; <br />Section 25, lots 1, 2, W1/2NE 3/4, W%; <br />Section 26, SEI/4NEI/a, El/2SEI/a, SW'/4SEI/a. <br />The life of the mining operations at the King 11 mine is expected to continue for an <br />additional ten (10) years under Federal Indian lands permit CO -0106A and this proposed <br />mining plan modification. <br />The average production rate of 0.6 million tons per year and the maximum production <br />rate of 0.61 million tons per year would not change. <br />The approved permit area for Federal Indian lands permit CO -0106A is zero (0) acres. <br />No surface disturbance with will occur within approved Federal Indian lands permit. <br />This mining plan modification will add 1,224 acres for recovery of Federal coal to the <br />approved mining plan area shown on the map included with this decision document. <br />Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize mining of an additional 6.6 <br />million tons of recoverable Federal coal. <br />No Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan area as a result of this <br />action. <br />The post mining land use within the permit and mining plan area approval will be <br />rangeland, pastureland, and crop land. <br />OSM has placed one (1) Special Condition on its Federal Indian lands permit. An <br />explanation of the special condition and the requirements for its resolution can be found <br />in the Federal Indian lands permit, CO -0106A made a part of this Mining Plan Decision <br />Document. <br />W <br />
