will most generally be washed gravel to contain the pressures and reduce fly rock. Typically, six
to eleven holes per row and six to twenty rows per shot will be used. Smaller or larger patterns
may be used or tried to make the shot more economical or to provide better overburden
fragmentation.
Normal production blasting breaks to two faces and delays will all be non -electric. Non -electric
delays will be located on the surface and down each borehole to minimize the number of holes
detonating in any given 8ms time period. Use of non -electric delays reduces noise and increases
safety in a region of frequent thunderstorms. WFC may, at times, use electronic, programed
delay system to achieve better fragmentation and lower vibration if deemed necessary.
2.05.3(6)(a)(ii)(A)-(D) Recording and Retention of Blast Data
Please see Section 4.08.5.
2.05.3(6)(a)(iii) Audible Blasting Warning
Please see Section 4.08.4.
2.05.3(6)(a)(iv) Blast Monitoring Equipment
Please see Sections 4.08.4 and 4.08.6
2.05.3(6)(a)(v) Pre -Blast Surveys
Please see Section 4.08.2.
2.05.3(6)(a)(vi) Unavoidable Blasting Hazards
Please see Sections 4.08.3 and 4.08.4. Some unavoidable hazardous conditions may be
encountered that may dictate blasting at times other than the posted time period. The following
conditions shall be cause for detonation under emergency conditions:
• Destruction of damaged or deteriorated explosives or detonators in a safe manner.
• Disposal of misfires and/or undetonated explosives.
• Firing of charged holes as soon as practical after cessation of static electricity or stray
current conditions when electric detonators are used.
• Firing of charged holes when weather conditions indicate the existence of an eminent
safety hazard.
• Operator safety or safety considerations for the general public.
2.05.3(6)(a)(vii) Peak Particle Velocities and Air Blasts
Please see Sections 4.08.4 and 4.08.6.
Section 2.05.3(6)(a) Page - 2 - December 2015 (TR -12)
