SITE RECLAMATION ACTIVITY
APRIL 2015 TO MARCH 2016
Reclamation activity during the 2015 reporting year (April 2015 to
March 2016) consisted of reclamation maintenance work and activity
by others within the permit area.
In the following sections of this report, environmental activity
during the 2015 reporting year and activity within the permit area
by others is discussed on a site by site basis .
All four of the below permit areas have been included in the list
for the proposed Bonita Peak Mining District NPL site .
AMERICAN TUNNEL PORTAL AREA - Plate No. 1
During the 2015 reporting year, no additional acreage was disturbed
or reclaimed by Sunnyside. With completion of work in 2006, all of
the reclamation work in the reclamation plan had been completed.
The two buildings and surrounding area that will remain after
reclamation were occupied by tenants under an agreement with the
current owner of the land and buildings . This area was actively
being used by the owner.
Reclamation and environmental activity during 2015 consisted of
cleaning the American Tunnel drainage culvert and ditch. The
sediment bags used to collect the precipitate from the culvert and
ditch has been left on-site to dry to make transport and disposal
feasible.
Since the Gold King incident on August 5th, EPA has taken over the
area to use as a staging area for their Gold King response and to
build and operate a water treatment plant to treat the Gold King
flows. As a result, a large portion of Sunnyside' s reclamation work
has been disturbed. See the following pictures .
2
