6/8/2016 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail -RE: Yoast Mine May 2016 Aerial Inspection Report
NATE OF Hernandez - DNR, Alysha <alysha.hernandez@state.co.us>
COLORADO
RE: Yoast Mine May 2016 Aerial Inspection Report
1 message
Nettleton, Jerry <JNettleton@peabodyenergy.com> Tue, Jun 7, 2016 at 1:59 PM
To: "Binns - DNR, Janet" <janet.binns@state.co.us>, "Watterson, Brian" <BWatterson@peabodyenergy.com>,
Alysha Hernandez - DNR <alysha.hernandez@state.co.us>
Janet —
Finally had a chance to review the report and photos. Looking at an ownership map, it appears that the
referenced new blind is on surface owned by John Ricks. I checked with our folks who used to be involved
and know the players (Scott, Roy, Dennis) and they didn't know anything about it. I'm assuming that it is a
temporary blind, and is certainly not a mining -related structure, so I'm not inclined to add it to the maps? We
can check further (may try to contact John Ricks) and will let you know if we get any further information.
We had Brian Len with NWCC take a look at the Seneca IIW slump on the slope between Pond 6 and the
Shop. He indicated that it appears to be a shallow surface slump and with things drying out, has pretty much
stopped moving and does not pose a threat to either the pond or road above. He is going to write-up
recommendations, but generally indicated that the excess material should be removed from that portion of
the slope (is a "nose" that doesn't match the slopes on either side), and the slope regraded and reseeded.
We will provide more information when available —
Regards,
Jerry
Jerry M.
