Box 25486, DFC (MS 65412) <br />Denver, CO 80225-0486 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: Keenesburg Strip Mine (Permit No. C-1981-028) <br /> Technical Revision No. 46 (TR-46) <br /> Change to Grading Plan and Permit Boundary. <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Linner: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 7, 2016 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Keenesburg Strip Mine was considered <br />complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Coors Energy Company. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of <br />filing. <br /> <br />TR-46 is requesting to revise the final grading plan and permit boundary. CEC is seeking to <br />remove areas which have already been Phase III released from the permit boundary. The change in <br />permit boundary will include drainage modificaiton to ensure any runoff from unreclaimed areas <br />remains in the permit boundary and flows toward the designated sediment ponds. <br /> <br />The proposed change to final mine topography is due to the cessation of ash imports, which <br />reduces the total quantity of fill material for pit reclamation. The revised plan would still result in <br />positive drainage of all reclaimed areas. The applicant is not proposing additional surface <br />disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 7 miles North of Keenesburg, <br />Colorado.
