PERMIT#: M-1986-004
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: May 12,2016
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The Brandstadt Rock Pit is located approximately 4 miles east of Delta,
Colorado in Delta County.
The pit is currently not active and in final reclamation. The purpose of the inspection was to observe the
grading as the reclamation plan outlines. The site was graded exceptionally well and the reclaimed slopes tie
into the adjacent undisturbed slopes in a very natural looking way. All reclaimed slopes appear to be no
steeper than the required 3H:1V.The bottom of the pit will be left for horse corrals and does not have to be
revegetated. The pit slopes have to be re-seeded with the approved reclamation seed mix, mulched and
crimped.
Based on the conditions observed during the inspection a request to reduce the surety (SR) is recommended.
The Operator must submit a request that meets the process requirements of Rule 4.14. Rule 4.14 states the
request must be in writing, separate from other correspondence and include an estimate of the actual cost to
reclaim the site based on what it would cost an independent contractor to complete reclamation, including
unit costs for reclamation activities appropriate to the operation to comply with the provisions of Rule 3.1 and
the permits reclamation plan.
If this request is submitted within 60 days of this inspection report, the May 12, 2016 inspection can be
considered the Surety Reduction inspection.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no. 970-242-5025.
