COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
May 18, 2016
Interoffice Memo
Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-1981-010)
Technical Revision No. 115 (TR -115) and
Geotechnical Monitoring Reports — March 2015, September 2015 and March 2016
Tabetha,
After my review of the Trapper Mine's Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Reports — March
2015, September 2015 and March 2016, I have the following comments:
Displacement graphs have been provided for three sites that are monitoring a previous landslide
area that is currently being mined through. Three displacements graphs which has measured
change in X -Y -Z coordinates are provide for each site. After reviewing displacement
measurements, I have no comments or concerns. The information provided have shown little to
no movement in the X -Y -Z direction to warrant concern of instability over the time monitoring
the area. However, after reviewing a previous memo by Marcia Talvitie, dated April 16, 2015,
she commented that this continuous monitoring program in place was developed as part of a new
ground control plan submitted to MSHA in 2009. Marcia Talvitie also requested additional
information regarding MSHA's requirements that appears to not have been provided. I believe
that this request is still valid to ensure all of MSHA's requirements have been satisfied with the
provided monitoring plan. Please Have TMI provide information of MSHA's plans and
requirements before removing the monitoring plan.
This concludes my review of Trapper Mine's permit for TR -115 and Semi-annual Geotechnical
Monitoring Reports — March 2015, September 2015 and March 2016. If you have any questions,
feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us
John W.
