PERMIT#: M-1981-229
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: May 4,2016
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted in response to an acreage release (AR01) request submitted by Parkerson
Construction, Inc. The Valley Vista Pit is located approximately 5 miles south of Clifton, Colorado in Mesa
County. Ivan Geer of Parkerson Construction, Inc. accompanied me on the inspection.
The pit is currently active. The purpose of the inspection was to observe the reclamation success and
determine if the March 8, 2016 request for acreage release of the reclamation permit was approvable. At this
time 6.7 acres can be released from the permit area. The 6.7 acres to be released is directly west of the access
road. The site was graded exceptionally well and the reclaimed slopes tie into the adjacent undisturbed slopes
in a very natural looking way. All reclaimed slopes appear to be no steeper than the required 3H:1V.
Rabbit Brush, Fairway Crested wheatgrass, sego lilies and a small amount of cheatgrass were the predominant
vegetation. The approved seed mix for the permit is Sand Dropseed, Indian Ricegrass, Fairway Crested
Wheatgrass and Pubescent Wheatgrass. Sand Dropseed and Indian Ricegrass were not observed, but it may be
too early in the spring to observe those two species.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
No problems or violations were noted or observed during the May 4, 2016 inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no. 970-242-5025.
