Lynch <br />Environmental Protection Specialist <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Keenesburg Strip Mine (Permit No. C-1981-028), Permit Renewal Application No. 7 (RN -7) (HC #68414) <br />Dear Ms. Lynch: <br />'llzank you for your correspondence dated April 14, 2016 (received by our office on April 18, 2016) regarding <br />the sub)ect undertaking. <br />In consideration of the information that we currently have on file for this mine, it is our opinion that a finding <br />of no historic properties affected is appropriate for the permit renewal pursuant to 36 CFR 800.4(d)(1). <br />The consultation process does involve other consulting parties including local governments and Tribes, which as <br />stipulated in 36 CFR 800.3 are required to be notified of the undertaking. Additional information provided by <br />these parties may cause our office to re-evaluate our comments and recommendations. <br />If previously unidentified archaeological resources are discovered in the course of the project, work must be <br />interrupted until the resources are properly evaluated in terms of the National Register of Historic Places <br />eligibility criteria (36 CFR 60.4) in consultation with our office. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
