PERMIT#:M-1989-010
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE:January 20,2016
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). Holly Lien and Rob Kisner were present on behalf of Pete Lien and Sons, Inc. The Weaver Quarry is
located 9 miles north of Laporte, Colorado off of County Road 72. The permit area encompasses 77.1 acres
and the Operator is restricted to a maximum disturbance of 21.9 acres. The post-mining land use is rangeland.
The Division received a request for surety reduction on December 23, 2015. Pursuant to Rule 4.17, the Division
sent notice of the surety reduction request to the landowner, the Larimer County Commissioner's office, and
the Fort Collins Conservation District. The Division did not receive any comments or objections from the
noticed parties. The purpose of the inspection was to assess the current disturbance and to ensure the
reduced financial warranty amount would be adequate to complete reclamation of the site.
The Division currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of$97,000.00 and the Operator is proposing to
reduce the financial warranty to $32,405.00. The site is in the same condition as noted in previous inspection
reports. The existing disturbance consists of a small excavation adjacent to the access road; approximately 3-5
cubic yards of material are stockpiled next to the excavation. In addition, there is a small area south of the
excavation requiring seeding. The reduced bond amount of$32,405.00 would allow the Operator to disturb up
to two acres in the future. Notice of the Division's decision regarding the surety reduction will be sent under
separate cover.
The Weaver Quarry is currently in the second five year term of Temporary Cessation (TC). The second five year
term of TC will expire on March 26, 2019. Upon expiration of the second term of TC, the Operator will be
required to resume active mining operations or complete reclamation of the site.
This concludes the inspection.
