COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
NTY -Parks&Visitor Services •Open Lands Program •Weed Management&Forestry
1800 South County Road 31
Loveland, CO 80537
(970)679-4570/(970)679-4574 FAX
162 www.larimer.org/naturalresources
Larimer County weed management procedures follow an integrated management approach utilizing
herbicide application, mowing, hand pulling, insect bio-control, and cultural control. Management of Strang
Gravel pits with the assistance of the Weed District will be a combination of chemical and mechanical control
due to the amount of perennial plants present on the property. Utilizing an integrated weed management
approach, the program will make every effort to prevent introduction of new invasive plant species, eradicate
isolated or limited populations, and contain and manage weed species that are well established within the
county. The Weed District will systematically use a combination of the 2 methods of control to suppress the
noxious weeds listed as C species and troublesome noxious weeds, as well as obtain more manageable levels,
and ultimately eliminate the noxious weeds listed as B species deemed by Larimer County and the State. All
phreatophytes listed will be controlled with a method of control known as "cut stump treatment" where we will
cut the tree at its base, and treat with an herbicide labeled for such use.
As part of our commitment in managing the noxious weeds, we will treat and monitor all infestations
on the property until our agreement with the Road and Bridge department is exhausted, or we obtain our
management goals (please refer to the original proposal document for project costs and completion) If there are
any questions or concerns regarding Larimer County Weed Districts plan for Strang Gravel Pit,please feel free
to contact me.
Thank you for your time,
Bill Pawleshyn
Weed Specialist II
Larimer County DNR-Weed District
970-498-5753
pawlyswC&,co.larimer.co.us
