This written notification is follow-up to the verbal
notification that was made to you via voicemail on April 261h, 2016.
MNGW-1 was sampled during the normally scheduled triannual monitoring event on April 14th, 2016, with
a pH value of 6.4 standard units (s.u.). This exceeded the numeric protection limit (NPL) of 6.5-8.5. As
required by the Groundwater Management plan, a follow-up pH measurement was taken within 30 days,
on April 20th, 2016, resulting in another pH of 6.4 s.u.
Henderson performed a trend analysis and the results did not appear to be anomalous, or obvious
outliers. Henderson is currently working on further evaluation of the pH trends and the underlying water
chemistry.
As mentioned in the annual report, Henderson is currently in the process of preparing a memo regarding
the groundwater protection program associated with MNGW-1 at the Henderson Mine. This memo will
identify a path forward for the Division's review and input.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 720-942-3518 or
Miguel Hamarat at 720-942-3255.
Sincerely,
Tim Haynes
Sr. Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum Company
Henderson Operation
