King Coal Mine (C-1981-035) TR -24 Adequacy Review #2 Response
GCCE 11/30/15: The tables on King I & King II 2.03.8 page 1 have been redesigned to
include the requested data (the actual permit acreage change is 87.3 acres, not 83.7 acres).
So that DRMS can accurately depict permit boundaries on maps and track changes in permit and
affected area acreage please provide DWG files for the following layers:
1. King I permit boundary
2. King I affected area boundary (this would include projected angle of draw and final
extent of working).
3. King Hpermit boundary, reflecting the additional 83.7 acres
4. King II affected area boundary, reflecting the additional 83.7 acres (this would include
projected angle of draw and final extent of working).
GCCE 11/30/15: A .dwg file of the permit boundaries and affected area boundaries has been
included with this submittal.
For the purposes of tracking acreages in our permit system please provide a table for both
surface and mineral ownership of the percentage of ownership for each of the following
categories with respect to the expanded 83.7 acre permit area (we can then enter it and keep
changes up to date):
1. Federal
2. State
3. Private
GCCE 11/30/15: An additional table has been added to King I & II 2.03.8 page 1 to provide
the requested data (the actual permit acreage change is 87.3 acres, not 83.7 acres).
2.04.7 Hydrology Description
DRMS 10/21/2015: I have the Summary ofAnalytical Activities in Response to Neighborhood
Comments. This was updated 8 May 2014. 1 also have the Proposed Sampling Protocol for
proposed sampling procedures. I am unsure that either of these documents constitute the report
alluded to above. Please let me know what document/report you are referring to and/or send a
copy of the report to me at your earliest convenience.
Also, I have revised maps but I do not have any revised pages for section 2.04.7, Hydrology
Description, addressing the Vista de Oro subdivision wells and nearby area. Please provide
updated revised pages for section 2.04.7 as requested.
GCCE 11/30/15: King I & King II Sections 2.04.7 have been revised to include a description
of groundwater quantity and quality as it applies to the Vista del Oro subdivision and other
areas of concern. Appendix 4(5) has been added which contains the Colorado Division of
Water Resources well data sheets for all wells within 1 mile of the permit area. Appendix
4(6) has been added which includes a report by Norwest Corporation on the hydrogeology
of the area, especially near the Vista del Oro subdivision. Appendix 4(7), the Cumulative
Hydrologic Impact Assessment for Hay Gulch, Revised 2006, by Tom Kaldenbach of
CDMG has been also been added to the King II permit package with references to it in the
King I permit package. TR -26 has been submitted to address further ground water
monitoring, spring and seep surveys, and additional sampling of the Hay Gulch Ditch. The
Division completed its review on November 25, 2015. GCC Energy is currently responding
to the Division's comments. Once data is received from the additional sampling, the PHC
