rock averaged 1.5, 16.7, 15.1 and 0.0 percent respectively. Average species density was 25.4
species per 100 sq. m.
DISCUSSION
Climatic Conditions
2014 had above average precipitation for the 12 months preceding sampling (Figure 5a). It also
had slightly above average temperature (Figure 8). This is an unusual combination in that most
extra -moist years are also cool years in general. The effect on plant growth was marked,
especially as manifested in the growth of forbs which was very much more abundant than what
has been typical.
Assessment of BRB PSCM —3 for Compliance with Phase l/ Performance Standards
Calculation of 90 percent of the cover performance standard appropriate for 2014 sampling is
demonstrated below and is based on the following information:
2014 Sagebrush Reference Area Allowable herbaceous cover = 48.73% (Table 5-2).
90 percent of the Cover Standard = 0.90 X 48.73 = 43.86%
All—hit allowable cover from the BRB PSCM-3 = 42.4% (Table 5-1).
A one -sample t-test of the (traditional) null hypothesis that there is no statistically significant
difference between mean cover in BRB PSCM-3 and 90% of the Sagebrush Reference area
standard is as follows:
_ x
tC — S _ (43.86- 42.4) / [7.64 /  15] = 0.740
X
Where:
X = Bond Release Block Sample Mean
0 = 90% of Standard
S = Standard error of mean [ s / V_n_ ]
X
s = Sample standard deviation
9
