2.05.6(6)
Dove Cave is a rock shelter formed by a sandstone ledge overhang. The
ledge overhang runs for about 100 feet and is northeast facing. The area
of apparent occupation is about 60 feet long. The cave measures a
maximum of about 10 feet deep and 5 feet high. A description of the
prehistoric campsite, Site 5DT1326, is presented in the Volume VI,
Cultural Resources, Class III Cultural Resource Inventory and
Paleontological Assessment Report for 1360 Acres of Forest Service
Administered Lands within the Iron Point Coal Lease Tract (COC -61209).
(a)(ii)(B) The creeks, ponds, springs, reservoir, access roads, trails, aqueduct, and
power line alignment are shown on Map 9, Hydrologic Monitoring Location.
The location of the water rights are presented on Map 23, Water Rights
Location. The location of the water bearing zones are presented on Maps
10A, 10B and 11. Structures are shown on Map 27B.
(b) A description of the worst possible consequences which subsidence, if it
occurred, could have for such structures or renewable resource lands.
(b)(i)(A) The premining land use of the permit area is classified as rangeland, wildlife
habitat and industrial. The premining land use of the USDA -FS managed
lands are described in the GMUG Land and Resource Management Plan as:
"Lands are managed for wildlife habitat management for one or more Forest
Service management indicator species. Semi -primitive - non -motorized,
semi -primitive motorized, and roaded natural recreation opportunities are
provided. Livestock grazing and vegetation treatments are allowable." The
majority of the area is rangeland and wildlife habitat. The area classified as
industrial is the previously disturbed area associated with the old King Mine.
The postmining land use of the permit area will be classified the same as the
premining land use which is rangeland, wildlife habitat, the UDSA-FS land
use and industrial. See Map 12, Premining Land Use and Map 13
Postmining Land Use.
PR -14 2.05-150- 06/14
