•
2.04.3
2.04 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND
MINING ACTIVITIES -- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR INFORMATION
ON ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
2.04.2 Objectives
No response required.
2.04.2 Responsibilities
No response required.
2.04.3 General Requirements: Site Description and Land Use Information
(1) The rugged mountainous terrain in the permit and adjacent areas is
predominantly covered with pinyon - juniper and oak brush. A few small
undeveloped pastures and meadows are also present in the high country.
The slopes are too steep to offer any agricultural potential and offer only
minimal grazing potential.
The agricultural land in the North Fork Valley consists of three types:
rangeland, woodland and irrigated land. The irrigated land is made up of:
pastures, hay lands, small grain lands and orchards. Livestock in the North
Fork Valley are wintered on farms and ranches located throughout the valley
and are summered in the high country.
Springs and ponds are common in the permit and adjacent area which
enhance the value of the high country for wildlife habitat and historically
livestock grazing.
No commercially merchantable timber exists near the permit area due to the
steep slopes and low elevation although some small stands of aspen do
occur within the area.
PR -12
4 PPRaV6D
1116/ o
The lower portion of the permit and adjacent area consists of pasturelands,
orchards, residential and industrial.
