RECEIVED
APR 2 6 201:j
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
ENING Ale SAFETY
April 22, 2016
Mr. Peter S. Hays
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 AGGREGATE
Denver, CO 80203
INDUSTRIES
Re: Permit No. M-1989-120—Platte Valley - Corrective Action Response
Dear Peter:
Aggregate Industries (AI) submits this letter together with the enclosed documents provided by
J & T Consulting, Inc. in response to the corrective action items set forth in the Division's report
of its monitoring inspection conducted at the Platte Valley operation on February 24, 2016.
Backfilling and grading was cited as a possible problem as the Platte River breach and flood
event repair work that was conducted under Technical Revision 5 (TR-05) did not appear to
extend past the shared Consolidated Mutual Perry Pit (M-1990-098) and Aggregate Industries'
Platte Valley (M-1989-120)property line and did not appear to restore the required Aggregate
Industries offset from the property line and pond slope in Phase 3 to the required grade. J & T
surveyed the area and determined that, while the repair extended beyond the property line, it did
not fully restore to the correct setback width. J & T therefore coordinated with Northern
Colorado Constructors, Inc. to add some fill to the slope to achieve the correct setback width of
25 feet. Enclosed is a drawing provided by J & T which provides the as-built dimensions from
the property line and elevation shots, including toe of slope on the Aggregate Industries property.
Also enclosed is a copy of the seed mixture used by Arnold's Custom Seeding to revegetate the
breach repair area. This addresses the second corrective action item set forth in the inspection
report.
Please contact me at(970) 396-5252 or at connie.davis@aggregate-us.com if you have any
questions or need additional information.
Very truly yours,
evaiie:0
Connie N.
