Dear Ridgewood Estates Neighbors and surrounding friends,
Ridgewood Estates Neighborhood Association has joined forces with, Highway 115 Citizen's Advisory
Committee, in an effort to fight the new quarry proposal submitted by Transit Mix Concrete Company,
located on the Hitch Rack Ranch. This quarry would be the fourth quarry within an eight mile radius, and
within a two mile radius, of our neighborhood. The committee is comprised of representatives from
each of the most affected neighborhoods: Little Turkey Creek, Eagle's Nest, Bauer Ranch, Red Rock
Valley Neighborhood Estates, Keeton Ranch, Glenrock, Rock Creek and Mesa.
The first course of action is to submit letters of opposition to the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety. A letter will be sent on behalf of the Ridgewood Estates Neighborhood Association.
In addition to our association letter, all residents of Ridgewood estates should also submit their own
letters of opposition. The more response the DMRS receives from the neighborhoods, the more likely
we can affect a change. These letters should be received by April 16, 2016. For your convenience, we
have attached a copy of our letter which uses factual, relevant points and includes suggested criteria.
You may use this copy making sure to include your name, address and signature, or write your own
letter using these points and other information, but please send letters! If you want a word.doc of this
letter sent to you so you can modify to your needs, send an email to Reece.m.eddy@pfizer.com.
Mike Heer, one of the committee members, has set up a GoFundMe website to generate donations.
These donations will be used for legal fees, open records copying fees, etc. All expenses are committee
approved and will be posted on GoFundMe. In just a few days, the site has raised over$1000. You can
access the website at: https://www.gofundme.com/3fv4kezw. If you prefer, you can mail a check to:
3 East Ramona, Colorado Springs, CO 80905 [Att: Sara Harper, President's office address] Checks should
be made out to 'Highway 115 Citizens Advisory Committee'.
Thank you in advance for your support and your commitment to insuring our neighborhood's future.
For updates on this issue, wildfires and other issues please join the closed social network
Nextdoor.com, Rock Creek Neighborhood.
