Your initial
or first plan for the truck routes utilizes an existing field or farm road that would result in
accessing Highway 50 to the west of the town of Avondale. Such a route appears to cut
through existing field access and cross only a few county roads in the process. You
reported to me that the trucks would have stop signs that they would need to comply with
in order to utilized the route. After reviewing this with our bussing service, this route
would have little or no impact to the District 70 students or the bussing of such students.
Your second plan if you could not achieve the first plan was to have the trucks access 36th
lane and follow it down to Highway 50. This route utilizes 36th lane, which is the main
access point to Vineland Middle School and one of the access points to Vineland Elementary
School. This particular lane has a high volume of parent traffic in the morning between 7
am and 8 am and additionally, during the afternoon between 2:30 pm and 4 pm. Obviously
this trucking route creates some major difficulties and dangers to the truckers as well as
the students and parents of these two specific schools.
With these two truck routes in mind and the issues or lack of issues associated with them,it
would be Pueblo County School District 70's preference that you implement your initial
trucking plan that utilizes old farm access roads to the west of Avondale.
We would support your efforts with the Pueblo County Zoning and Planning office on
creating your gravel pit if you can utilize you initial trucking plan.
if_yqu or others have•any questions_lplease feel free to contact my office at(719) 295-5634.
Sincerely,
Greg Keasli g,Director '
Student Services
` blo County S_chobl DfWict-%0
Ct
