Since I hold the only claim in the area that would be
blocked in by his operation, I feel that access to my holding would be severely impacted. This, I believe, is a
part of his larger plan to force me to abandon my claim, something he has been trying to force for the last 18
years. Another problem I have with this operation is since Mr. Self has been known to dig on claims that do not
belong to him, I feel that he would ignore his claim boundary and dig where ever he wanted to, including my
claim. This constitutes theft of mineral resorces. Mr Self regularly ignores these claim boundary, case in point,
last July 7, I was notified by a friend that there where "people all over your claim". When he asked who they
where and what they where doing there, my friend was told, "We are on a field trip from the mineral club with
Jeff Self'. This permit would allow the applicant to use equipment that I feel would make it very easy to dig
where ever he wanted to in the area, not just on the double eagle. The map he filed with his plan of opps. with
the Forrest Service and BLM includes my claim. Another problem I have with the equipment part of his
operation is the impact on the wildlife in the area. We have nesting Goss Hawks in that area, an endangered
species. While hand digging for recreational purposes have not bothered these birds, I believe that using heavy
equipment on a commercial scale would have a negative impact. On a personal note, I have known the
applicant for almost 40 years, well enough to NOT trust him to follow any rules or regulations imposed on
him.
Sincerley
James E Hedricks
CC; Teller County Clerk and Recorder's office
https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/PrintMessage 4/7/2016
