2-15
Because of the variable geologic conditions that exist within the McClane Canyon
Mine reserve block, these panels have been designed so that known areas of adverse
mining conditions will be intersected near the end of the panels. This design will allow
adjustment of panel length to fit the reserve and enhance the recovery ratio in the area.
The panels shown on Figure 2.1-1 were designed with "square" ends. The ends of these
panels may be angled to fit irregular features.
The production panels have generally been designed to allow for typical room and
pillar mining but will also allow for extraction using longwall methods. There has been
no decision to use the longwall extraction method to date. When the mains and submains
have been driven to the edges of the property, knowledge of the geologic conditions will
be enhanced. This knowledge is imperative prior to committing to longwall mining.
DRMS and BLM will be notified and the proper revision will be approved prior to
engaging in longwall mining.
MR -50 McVolume I (Rev. 04/14)
