Weather conditions were clear with the temperature around
forty degrees fahrenheit at the time of the inspection and ground conditions were dry. The mine permit was
revoked and the bond forfeited in 1994. The Fruita Mine site is fully reclaimed and there was no activity at the
mine site at the time of the inspection.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
This is a bond forfeiture site and all applicable records are maintained by the Division.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2,4.27;Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
The portal area remains stable. Portals remain sealed and no issues were observed.
FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18:
Deer were observed along the site. It appears they were using the reclaimed upper portion of mine site as a lay
down area.Approximately 12 deer were on site.
