C
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
March 31, 2016
Page 5
(590 feet) is not consistent with information given on the following page.
Response: The text on page Rule 2, Page 13 states the Trout Creek sandstone underlies the
lowest surface recoverable seam to being mined at Collom (GB) by approximately 460 feet,
based on drill data in the Collom Area. There is not any language on the page Rule 2, Page 13
that refers to South Taylor. Therefore, no changes have been made as the text correctly reflects
the Collom Mine.
Rule 2, Page 14 states the KM layer is 165 feet above the Trout Creek sandstone and underlines
the lowest seam to be mined by 290. This total depth from these two values indicates the Trout
Creek sandstone is below the lowest seam to be mined is 455 feet. On page Rule 2, Page 14, the
Trout Creek sandstone is noted to be approximately 460 feet below the lowest seam to be mined.
Thus, a five foot difference when the wording says "approximate" is consistent. Therefore, no
changes have been made.
ITEM 69. Response is adequate.
ITEM 70. Response is adequate.
ITEM 71. Response is adequate.
ITEM 72. Response is adequate.
ITEM 73. Two faults are described in Volume 15, Rule 2, Page 21, but are not shown on Map
7A (or Map IOB). Please draw the faults on Maps 7A and IOB. Please also update the text of
section 2.04.6 to include a description of these faults.
This item has not yet been adequately addressed. CCC has retained discussion of faulting in
Morgan Gulch on Page 15, and removed the text discussing faults from Page 21, in the proposed
revised text, rather than expanding other sections to more fully describe these faults. Two
references are cited in the text that CCC proposes to remove: Reheis, 1981; and Dodd and Dodd
Consulting, 2006. The first of these is readily available to the public, however the second is not.
Please provide a copy of the referenced report so that the Division may better evaluate the
significance of faulting in the Collom area. Please also show the faults in Morgan Gulch on Map
7A.
Response: As noted in the previous response to this item and also on page Volume 15 Rule 2
page 15, no faults occur within the Collom permit area. The faulting discussion as it related to
Morgan Gulch (outside the permit boundary) has been removed from the PAP.
