The applicants shall be responsible for compliance with this plan, but
the State Engineer's Office may also pursue the landowner for eventual compliance.
PLAN OPERATION
The gravel operation is located east of Pueblo between Highway 50 and the Arkansas River.
This pit did not exist, and no ground water was exposed, prior to January 1, 1981. The
operation consists of several phases as shown in the attached Figure 1. Currently, mining in
Phases 1 has been completed and Transit Mix is in the process of reclaiming the area by
backfilling the pit. Mining in Phase 2 has also been completed and has been lined with an
approved slurry wall per January 9, 2012 correspondence from the Division 2 Assistant
Engineer. Mining is now progressing in Phase 7, which began in December 2012, and is
currently the main active mining area on the site. Consumptive use of ground water from the
operation includes evaporation from up to 37.0 acres of settling/discharge ponds and
dewatering ditches (31.0 acres in Phase 1, 1.0 acre in Phase 2, and 5.0 acres in Phase 7), dust
control, and water removed with the mining product.
40
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3581 F 303.866.3589 www.water.state.co.us I •iyf•
John W.
