Hall-Irwin(HI)on-site using a Komatsu PC 800 Excavator to remove alluvium material from the slurry <br /> trench. Fresh slurry was placed within trench as work progressed up-station to keep the walls of the <br /> trench from collapsing. Backfill material was mixed and placed throughout the day. ' <br /> 2. Both AM &PM profiles were observed and/or recorded. See attached AM/PM comparison chart for <br /> further details. ' <br /> 3. Performed quality control testing on fresh slurry, trench slurry, and soil-bentonite backfill. <br /> 4. Slurry level did not drop below 2ft of surface grade during excavation. t <br /> 5. In-trench slurry was out of specification for sand content during the AM testing. The de-sanding machine <br /> was in operation intermittently throughout the shift. A re-test in the PM was also above the specification <br /> limit for sand content and unit weight. Ruben with Hall-Irwin was immediately notified of the test results <br /> for the AM/PM testing. <br /> 6. The Komatsu DX65 dozer used in the backfilling operation was not working during this shift, and is <br /> currently under maintenance for an overheating problem. A rental dozer was utilized during this shift. <br /> The Komatsu PC300 excavator normally used in the backfill operation was being used to install pipe at a <br /> different location on-site during this shift. Hall-Irwin premixed backfill material the evening of 5-1-13 ' <br /> with the PC300. Then the rental dozer mixed it again on the morning of 5-2-13 before placement. The <br /> PC800 excavator was used later in the day to assist the rental dozer with mixing fresh backfill for the <br /> afternoon placement. <br /> 7. HI is keeping the toe of the backfill slope within 30±5 feet of the excavation to allow them to clean out , <br /> the key and help prevent sand settling in the slurry wall key. <br /> 8.
