The North Slurry
Wall Reservoir is primarily located in the NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 2, Township 2 North, Range 68 West
of the 61h P.M. with a small area in the SE1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 35, Township 3 North, Range 68 West.
It is a part of the Hokestra gravel pit (DRMS M-1980 149). This slurry wall liner leak test commenced May 20,
2014 and concluded on August 18, 2014. Site inspection was performed by our office on May 28, 2014 to
review site conditions and the leak test plan. '
Your report dated September 29, 2014 provides the liner summary and leak test result. The test data
provided indicates that the reservoir has been lined to the performance standard referenced in the August
1999 State Engineer Guidelines for Lining Criteria for Gravel Pits (1999 SEO Guidelines). Meeting the t
performance standard requires that during reservoir operations all water inflows and outflows for the
liner perimeter enclosed area be accounted for on a weekly basis.
With this liner approval, the North Slurry Wall Reservoir (Cell 4) is now classified as a lined reservoir in '
accordance with the 1999 SEO Guidelines. Water shall not be impounded in the reservoir except pursuant to
lawful diversions allowed by statute or decree. At all other times, all inflow of water into the reservoir from
any source, including precipitation and ground water inflows shall be removed to prevent illegal storage of
water. Prior to ANY use of this site, the owner or operator will need to coordinate with Shera Sumerford,
District 5 Water Commissioner, to review operations, measurement structures, stage-storage curves, and
accounting.
Please contact me at the number below if you have any questions.
