AFAE
4WU -.
Should the Division not approve the CKD using activated carbon and hydrated lime, CEMEX
will remove the material from C-Pit and landfill in an appropriate method. The material will
be stored in a manner as to distinguish itself from the capping material and existing C-Pit
storage.
Enclosed is Attachment 1 which is a schematic of Waste Dust(CKD)from baghouse to C-Pit.
The process of CKD handling and processing would not change with the addition of lime and
carbon
The Kiln dust sampling plan will consist of the following parameters:
• A baseline kiln baghouse sample shall be obtained with no lime or carbon injection.
This will consist of 1 composite sample under normal operating conditions. The
sample will consist of 4 individual samples over a 30 minute period which will mixed
into 1 composite sample. The sample point will be the exit end of the baghouse prior
to dust silo.
The sample will be analyzed for TCLP Metals (EPA Method 1311),Total Metals as listed in
Table 1 of the CDPHE,Water Quality Control Commission 5 C.C.R. 1002-41, Regulation 41 -
The Basic Standards for Groundwater(analytes omitted from analysis include; asbestos,
cyanide, nitrite, nitrate, and total nitrite and nitrate). In-addition, Paste pH test will be
conducted.
• Activated Carbon/Lime Injection-A composite sample shall be gathered while
injecting activated carbon and hydrated lime. The composite sample will consist of
one sample every 15 minutes for a total of 4 samples. The injection rate used for
testing will be 12 Ib/hr activated carbon and hydrated lime application rate of 200
Ibs/hr. Note typical injection rates are expected to be less than the maximum
projected.
The sample will be analyzed for TCLP Metals(EPA Method 1311),Total Metals as listed in
Table 1 of the CDPHE,Water Quality Control Commission 5 C.C.R. 1002-41, Regulation 41 -
The Basic Standards for Groundwater(analytes omitted from analysis include; asbestos,
cyanide, nitrite, nitrate, and total nitrite and nitrate). In-addition, Paste pH test will be
conducted. The sample point will be the exit end of the baghouse prior to dust silo.
2 of 3
