March 17, 2016
Page 8
sedimentation basin),and/or 2)between the second mine panel and production well DW-1. Based on what is
currently known, the primary target screen interval would include the Codell, but extending up
approximately 5 feet above the Fort Hayes/Codell contact(assuming no saturation is observed in the Fort
Hayes). If the Fort Hayes is found to be saturated during drilling, it is recommended that nested wells be
installed to monitor both intervals separately.
This analysis and associated opinions are based on site records provided by GCC,review of DRMS files, and
search of readily available reports and published literature. This analysis does not address and did not
include a thorough review of environmental risks not associated with quarry extraction and reclamation.
Proper containment and control of hydrocarbons appeared to be in place based on a brief site tour, but formal
assessment of controls for hydrocarbons or other chemicals managed at the facilities was not within the
scope of this study. References specifically cited in this report are provided in Attachment B. As mining
approaches or progresses into the third mine panel(Years 16-25)additional field studies may be needed to
confirm that conditions described herein persists to the east.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with you on this project. I look forward to meeting to discuss any
questions about this report.
Sincerely,
r }
Bence V.
