Notice of Termination of Jurisdiction <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has begun the process of terminating its jurisdiction over <br />the Ohio Creek Mine, Permit No. C-1980-002. The underground mining activity was undertaken by Robert Weaver <br />under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. The affected area is located in <br />Gunnison County, approximately 15 miles northwest of Gunnison, Colorado. The permit area lies within Sections <br />9, 10, 15 and 16 of Township 15 S, Range 86 W. The permit area consists of approximately 200 acres of which <br />about 4 acres were disturbed and reclaimed by mining activities. Termination of jurisdiction is being sought for the <br />entire 200 acres. The surface and coal mined were under federal and private ownership. <br />The Ohio Creek Mine is a formerly permitted coal mine operated by Robert Weaver. The Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board revoked the operating permit and forfeited the reclamation bond in 1996. As provided for in Colorado Surface <br />Mining Control and Reclamation Act, the Division assumed the task of accomplishing reclamation of the site <br />between 1996 and 2016. <br />Written comments, objections and requests for an informal conference or a formal public hearing before the Mined <br />Land Reclamation Board may be submitted to the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 1313 <br />Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 within 30 days of the last publication of this notice. <br />
