New Horizon Mine <br />During 2015, 30.1 acres were topsoil. Please see Table 1 for topsoil moved during <br />the report year and Table 2 for overall topsoil balance for the mine. Additionally, <br />please see Figure 1 and Map 3 depicting the locations topsoil for the report year. <br />Topsoil replacement occurred on several areas on the NH2 Permit during 2015. <br />The topsoil was distributed in accordance with Section 2.05.4(2)(d) of the <br />approved permit. Table 3 denotes topsoil replace depths and areas for 2015 on <br />the NH2 Permit area. In accordance with Table 2.05.4(2)(d)-1 of the approved <br />permit, no topsoil testing was conducted on the replaced soil as all stockpiles had <br />been previously sampled for the Morgan areas. Topsoil testing did not take place <br />on the East Haul or South of Shop areas. These areas have been tested in prior <br />report years. <br />3. Seeding <br />In 2015 a total of 117.9 acres were permanently seeded. Approximately 111.0 <br />acres were planted to Irrigated Crop (IC) located on the Morgan. Approximately <br />5.9 acres were planted to Dryland Pasture (DP), east of 27 and south of BB roads. <br />Please see Figure 1 and Map 4 for locations of the areas that were permanently <br />seeded. No inter -seeding took place in 2015. By the end of the 2015, a total of <br />644.41 acres have been reclaimed at the New Horizon 2 Mine. A total of 370.81 <br />acres have been seeded from 1994 through 2005 and have been in existence for <br />greater than 10 years while 273.6 cres have been seeded 10 years or less. <br />Attachment 3 contains documentation on specific seed mixes utilized and a <br />sample of the seed tags and seed certifications used in 2015. The currently <br />approved seed mixtures can be located in Section 2.05.4(2)(e). <br />4. Soil Fertility Testing and Fertilizer Application <br />Soil fertility testing was not performed on the New Horizon 2 Mine in 2015. <br />Fertilizer was applied to approximately 302 acres of irrigated pasture and the <br />irrigated reference area in April of 2015. Section 2.05.4(2)(e) of the approved <br />permit presents the approved fertilization rates. <br />Fertilizer was applied to approximately 111.0 acres of the Irrigated Cropland in <br />August 2015 to the landowner's requirements. The fertilizers application areas <br />are shown on Map 6. Attachment 4 presents the fertilize amounts applied to IC <br />and IP areas in 2015. <br />5.
