STATE OF
COLORADO
Reagent Testing at Climax
2 messages
McGiII, Brian <Brian_McGill@fmi.com>
To: "eric.scott@state.co.us" <eric.scott@state.co.us>
Cc: "Lazuk, Raymond" <Raymond_Lazuk@fmi.com>
Hi Eric,
Scott - DNR, Eric <eric.scott@state.co.us>
Fri, Mar 4, 2016 at 9:36 AM
Climax Metallurgy is running a short test on a new reagent to depress iron. The reagent is Flomin BDX500
(MSDS attached) and is similar to the Orfom D8 reagent that Climax is currently using to depress iron. The
BDX500 dosing rate will be around 0.035 — 0.055 Ib/ton of ore milled and will be added to the cyclones from a
tote staged at the cyclone deck. This will be a short-term test and will last around one week or less. In case we
see any issues with our process from the test reagent we will discontinue the test and dispose of the remaining
chemical in accordance with waste regulations. As indicated above, the tote will placed on the cyclone deck on
the grinding side of the mill where we have concrete floors and a sump to provide both secondary and tertiary
containment in case of spills. We will be plan to update to the EPP if we decide to make this a permanent
change.
Please let me know if you have any concerns. We would like to begin testing right away.
Thanks,
Brian
Brian D.
