(ASCI) proposes to excavate sand
and gravel adjacent to the SH -85 Right of Way (ROW) at the Chavers Mining
Resource. The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate safe setback distances for pit
excavations from the SH -85 ROW as well as from other permanent man-made
structures within 200 ft of the proposed site. The project will construct a low
permeability compacted clay liner around the perimeter of the proposed mine site
following or during mining.
1.1 METHODOLOGY
The digital software application Slide 7.011 (Rocscience, Inc., 2016) is utilized for
this study. The program utilizes Simplified Bishop and Janbu Simplified analytical
solutions to slope failure. The model also uses finite element methods to model pore
pressure due to groundwater, which is then utilized in the slope failure solutions.
PO Box 19097.
