Keenesburg Mine 2015 Vegetation Monitoring Report
The Keenesburg Mine Reclamation Permit specifies the use of onsite precipitation from
September to July in calculating the vegetation cover and herbaceous production standards. Total
cumulative precipitation for the period from September 2014 — July 2015 was 16.66 inches. This
represents 144% of the average precipitation amount for the same period (1993-2014). The
pattern and timing of the precipitation was generally similar to the average; however, it was more
extreme with the usual peak in May totaling over 270% of the average May rainfall (Figure 3).
Multiple rain events from April 15 — June 15 resulted in a total of 38 days of rainfall and 10.5
inches. While this period is always the peak precipitation period, it normally accounts for
approximately 40% of the total annual precipitation and this year represented 63%.
Figure 3: 2013-2015 Precipitation and Average Annual Precipitation
r
a3
_y
G
Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug
5 2015 PEST & DISEASE INSPECTIONS
Habitat Management was contracted to completed quarterly pest and disease inspections at the
Keenesburg Mine in 2015.
