Box 1299
Paonia, Colorado 81428
Pear Ms. Welt;
MINCD LA-VD
RECLAMATION DIVISION
At,' ~ 1 _ 1~ ~~,
On August 14, 1986, you requested our comments regarding the post-mining
land uses the public land will be put to that will be occupied by GWI's
proposed portal, access road, and related facilities in the East Roatcap
drainage near Paonia. We understand that CWI intends to restore or rehab-
ilitate the land to its present uses - wildlife habitat and rangeland.
These post-mining land uses would be acceptable to the Bureau of Iand Manage-
ment, as the agency responsible for managing the subject lands.
We also understand the proposed facilities would be removed (after they are
• not needed), the large culvert and drainage facilities removed, the terrain
regraded to its near-original condition; then the disturbed areas would be
revegetated with species that complement wildlife habitat and range manage-
ment purposes.
Sincerely yours,
Robert V. Carruthers
Area Manager
Enclosure
u
