Future subsidence monitoring grid construction may be more useful after develop- <br />ment mining has occurred where pillar recovery is more assured. <br />• <br /> <br />CONCLUSION <br />Site specific data consisting of climatic, hydrological, and subsidence survey- <br />ing collected by Colorado Westmoreland Inc. indicates underground coal extraction <br />at the Orchard Valley Mine has had a negligible impact upon the hydrologic regime <br />during 1983. Continued monitoring and research into the relationship between <br />hydrology and subsidence will corroborate these observations during 1984. <br />Colorado Westmoreland Inc, is committed to effective resource utilization and <br />environmental protection and believes these concepts are not mutually exclusive <br />in providing our nation with greater energy independence. <br />• <br /> <br /> <br />-6- <br />.. ~ ..... <br />
