Trapper Mining Inc., TR -115 Page 1 3
2015 DRMS Midterm Comments and Responses, Partial Response
2.03.4 Identification of Interest
If PR -07 is not issued, TMI will need to update the applicable information in Section 1 of the
permit binder by August 28, 2015.
Trapper Response: Proposed approval of PR -07 was issued August 31, 2015 and has since
received.rnal approval.
2.04.4 Baseline Cultural and Historical Information 2.04.4(2) Appendix K of the permit
contains the results of cultural resource inventories conducted for the site. It should be noted that
PR7 currently under review by the Division adds 774.8 acres to the permit area to the east of the
currently approved permit area. Trapper has not submitted a plan to affect land within the
expansion area. Prior to disturbance within this area, Trapper will need to conduct a cultural
resources survey.
Pages 2-588 and 4-3 of the permit state that Archeological Site 5MF290 (A.K.A. 51VIF949)
is within the proposed mine plan area but is outside of the permit area. This site does
not appear to be within the permit area or the mine plan area. These pages will need to
be updated accordingly.
Trapper Response: Based on Trapper surveys and an actual site visit, Site 5MF290 is within
Trapper's permit boundary but outside the mine plan area. The enclosed page 4-3 is revised to
reflect the facts in the previous sentence, since the facts are reversed in the currently approved
page 4-3. Enclosed page 2-588 is also revised to reflect that Site 5MF290 is within Trapper's
permit boundary but outside the mine plan area.
Page 2-588 indicates that site 5MF945 will not be destroyed by the mining operation;
however, page 4-3 indicates that site was disturbed by the mining operation during the
1992-1997 permit term. Page 2-588 should be revised to indicate this site was destroyed
or disturbed by the mining operation.
Trapper Response: Enclosed page 2-588 is revised to indicate that site 5MF945 will be destroyed
by mining.
On January 8, 2015, the Division sent Trapper a letter regarding archeological resource site
5MF948. Trapper's permit Section 2.9 and Appendix K indicate the site is located in Section 8 of
Township 5 North, Range 90 West of the 6th principal meridian and is outside of the permit
area. Permit map M45 depicts this site to be located in Section 8 outside of the permit area. The
Division conducted an inspection of the site on December 10, 2014. The Division collected a GPS
point at the site and confirmed that the site is located in Section 5 within the permit area.
According to permit page 4-3a, the site is 3,600 feet away of the closest proposed mining
disturbance. Based on the GPS point collected by the Division, the site will be about 700 feet
from the mining projected to occur in 2016 based on map M10a in permit. Given Trapper's
current mining plan, flyrock and airblasts will not likely affect site 51VIF948. However, ground
