Non -Technical Descriptions <br />Soil Survey Area: 626 PUEBLO AREA, COLORADO, PARTS OF <br />PUEBLO AND CUSTER COUNTIES <br />Map unit: CAE Cascajo very gravelly sandy loam, 5 to 25 percent slopes <br />Description Category: SOI <br />The Cascajo soil is deep and excessively drained. It formed in gravelly alluvium. <br />Typically, the surface layer is very gravelly sandy loam 10 Inches thick. The subshalum <br />is very gravelly sandy loam 11 inches thick over stratified sand and gravel (exlr <br />Gm* gravelly sand) to a depth of 60 or more inches. Permeability is rapid. Available <br />water capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 or more inches. Surface runoff is <br />medium to rapid, and the hazard of erosion by water is moderate to high.
