Bullger Basin Weed Management Plan
2/10/16
We believe the first step to managing noxious weeds on our site will be recognition. With that in mind,
we will educate our crew on the noxious weeds that could be in our area and keep a file on sight for
review and reference. Sightings shall be reported to the person in charge of weed control, Stephanie
Tunstall or designated and trained substitute.
At this time, Canada thistle is the only known noxious weed on site but Park County Weed Management
has advised us of the following noxious weeds in the county and recommended the following
management practices:
Canada Thistle- Aminopyralid (5-7 oz/acre or 1 tsp/gallon of water). Can be mowed. Do not pull or till.
Bull Thistle—May be dug or pulled up. Chlorsulfuron 0.047 with a non-ionic surfactant in Spring from
bolt to bud stages.
Chinese Clematis—OK to hand pull. Metsulfuron 1 oz/acre plus 0.25%v/v non-ionic surfactant at
flowering growth stage
Toadflax (Dalmatian and Yellow)—Prevention by native seeding is best. Chemical control with
Chlorsulfuron (1-3 oz/acre+ .50%MSO silicone blend surfactant applied mid flower through fall. Do not
pull or dig.
Scentless Chamomile—Can hand pull or mow. Metsulfuron 0.33 oz+ .25%v/v non-ionic surfactant in
spring to early summer
Black Henbane— Poisonous when ingested. Mechanical removal ok. Metsulfuron 1 oz/acre plus .25%
v/v non-ionic surfactant summer to early fall
Common Mullein— Hand pull prior to flowering or seed production. Metsulfuron 1 oz/acre + non ionic
surfactant .32 oz/gal water in spring or fall
Oxeye Daisy—Aminopyralid (4-6 oz/acre+0.25% non-ionic surfactant, may be pulled or mowed before
flowering. Ok to till.
Spraying with the aforementioned herbicides will be done annually or as needed as per
recommendations per species (above), beginning in the spring upon access to the site. Throughout the
summer months, known areas will be monitored for regrowth and any new findings from the crew will
be treated as needed. In the fall, any growth will be treated before we leave the premises for the
season. Physical removal will be done as recommended and noted above.
An approved native seed mix will be applied to any disturbed areas to encourage native vegetation.
