:- Initiation of slope construction and initial development for the WCR (TR13-83)
Drilling of underground water drainage boreholes
Initiation of work on inter -seam ventilation borehole (underground)
Several sedimentation ponds were dredged to remove accumulated sediment as part of our ongoing
drainage maintenance program
.- Modification of waste handling procedures and practices for aerosol cans to establish "point -of -use"
recycling
Repair of Run -of -Mine Stacking Tube
Progressive replacement of fluorescent lights with LED lighting to reduce energy use, and recycling of
used "green -tip" fluorescent bulbs
r Ongoing field studies in support of FERC Preliminary Application Document and Study Plans for Trout
Creek Reservoir Project
i Drainage basin level water quality and aquatic life study to support water discharge permit renewals and
future discharge permitting
All remaining surface structures and facilities at the Fish Creek Tipple were demolished during summer 2011,
NNith the majority of the steel demolition debris being salvaged. Limited rough grading was also completed to
stabilize the site and control surface runoff. Final grading, soil replacement, and revegetation seeding of the
reclaimed areas were completed in early -summer 2012. Heavy spring rains resulted in erosion and damage to
certain drainage structures and reclaimed areas. These areas were repaired and reseeded, and "Pro -Wattle" was
installed in selected areas to enhance long-term stability and prevent potential future erosion. Under the
extensive confirmation drilling program for the WCR, 5 additional coreholes were completed during 2015.
Each corehole was plugged, sealed, and the associated drill -site and access road (where applicable) were
reclaimed on completion of drilling and logging.
During 2015, TC contracted with X -Field Services to complete late season temporary stabilization or
supplemental reclamation seeding for a number of mine disturbance areas. Unfortunately, heavy early snowfall
precluded effective seeding, so these activities have been deferred until spring 2016.
Under our ongoing noxious weed control program, TC contracted with Hedges Spraying to complete noxious
weed control spraying for both active and bond -released areas (approximately 100 acres), consistent with the
approved Noxious Weed Control Plan (MR06-206). Areas sprayed for weeds are shown on the 2015 Annual
Reclamation Map, and/or listed as follows (spot or area spraying, as appropriate):
• Substations (sterilize inside fencing and 25 feet out from fence), electrical installations, propane
storage areas, and surface conveyors
• Both sides (approximately 30 to 40 feet) of facility roads
• Topsoil piles
• Facility pad areas (e.g. IORT, 6MN, 18RT, 15LT, 16LT, 18LT)
• Select areas on CRDA and associated soil/cover material stockpiles
• Pond embankments and perimeters
• Recent reclamation areas
• Exploration corehole drill -sites and associated roads
• Any new excavation disturbance areas
The spring spraying program (May -June) focused on spot or area spraying for control of white -top (hoary cress),
houndstongue, and knapweed, using 2,4-D, Escort, and LV -6. The fall spraying program (September -October)
focused on control of thistle, any residual weeds, and toadflax, which had previously been found on the site only
as small, isolated occurrences, using 2AD in combination with Tordon, Telar, and Milestone. Spraying was also
conducted during the spring, within and around electrical installations, conveyors, and propane storage areas
using GlyStar + (a generic Roundup substitute), Throttle, and Dicamba to eliminate all vegetation, as a fire -
safety and MSHA consideration.
