Martin
RE: Permit No. C-1981-040, Sunbelt Mining Inc. Executive Director
Reclamation of the Peacock Coal Mine
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is in regard to the Peacock Coal Mine, former Permit No. C-1981-040 located in La Plata County,
Colorado. The mining permit was revoked and the bond money was forfeited in 1987. Over the years, the State
has used the forfeited funds to reclaim the site and conducted routine maintenance of the inactive coal mine.
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety plans to use the remainder of the forfeited funds for further
maintenance of the site in the Spring/Summer of 2010. Maintenance work includes removing the remaining
mining debris and trash, installing small rock check dams on the old access road and revegetation of barren areas.
If you have any questions, please contact Kirstin Brown at 970-903-7889 or myself at 303-866-3567 *8115.
Sincerely,
Erica S.
