Mulch will be provided by CONTRACTOR, and will conform to Section 20.2 of the Revegetation
Specifications, attached. All mulch must be certified as noxious weed free or noxious weed
seed free by any authorized State or County Officer. Documentation of certification shall be
provided to the PROJECT MANAGER prior to application of mulch.
The mulch must be evenly distributed over the surface of dirt placed following excavation, and
at the working surface east of Ditch 8.
Severe surface roughening will occur simultaneously with distribution of the weed free mulch in
order to prevent loss of the mulch due to wind.
In order to accomplish the degree of severity of roughening required, the following will be
accomplished by CONTRACTOR:
Apply two (2) tons per acre weed free mulch per above;
Scarify the surface by using a track excavator bucket to gouge or pull the dirt and
mulch toward the machine in a manner so that no less than twelve inches (12") of
vertical relief is created. These gouges must be sufficiently close so that no more
than twelve inches (12") exists between the crest of one gouge and the crest of an
adjacent gouge, in any direction.
Roughening in this manner will occur at all fill generated by excavation during this Project, and
at the working surface immediately east of Ditch 8.
Following surface roughening, the Project Area will be revegetated. In addition to the
revegetation specifications outlined in Section 20.0 of the General Bid Specifications, the
following requirements will be adhered to:
Seed
Seed will be provided by the OWNER.
Fertilizers
Commercial fertilizer is required for this project. Fertilizer shall be provided by CONTRACTOR
and shall conform to Section 20.2 (commercial fertilizer) of the Revegetation Specifications,
attached.
Mulch
An additional two (2) tons per acre certified weed free wheat straw mulch will be supplied by
Contractor.
Seedbed Preparation
Seedbed preparation was accomplished as a result of the surface roughening.
Seed, Fertilizer and Mulch Distribution
CONTRACTOR will hand broadcast the seed, fertilizer and mulch in order to achieve an even
distribution of each material over the roughened slopes. Seed and fertilizer application rates will
be specified in the field by Project Manager. The mulch will be hand crimped.
Revegetation efforts will occur on approximately one (1) acre.
