Contractor MUST comply with the following provisions during performance of this Project:
- CONTRACTOR will exercise care to preserve the natural landscape and shall conduct all
operations in a manner which minimizes disturbance and prevents any unnecessary
destruction, scarring, or defacing of the natural surroundings in the vicinity of the work. No
clearing will be conducted without prior approval of the PROJECT MANAGER. Where clearing
has prior approval of the PROJECT MANAGER, all trees, native shrubbery and vegetation will
be preserved and protected to the extent practical from damage caused by CONTRACTORS
operation and equipment.
- CONTRACTOR will dispose of waste materials, including but not limited to refuse, garbage,
sanitary wastes, spent solvents; oil and other petroleum products off of the Project Area in
accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Any fees or charges required to be paid for
collection, transport or disposal of waste materials shall be paid by CONTRACTOR.
At its expense, CONTRACTOR will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws,
ordinances, rules and regulations relating to the work, the site, and any materials and/or
equipment provided by CONTRACTOR.
- CONTRACTOR will have a drug and alcohol policy in place, and available for review by
PROJECT MANAGER. Alcohol and drugs are NOT permitted within the Project Area.
- CONTRACTOR will NOT permit the existence or use of firearms within the Project Area.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for Task 1 will be reflected in a lump sum bid price under Item 1 on the Invitation and
Bid sheet. Payment shall include all the CONTRACTORS expenses for mobilization of
equipment to the site, transportation of equipment within the Project Area, employee time, labor
and materials necessary to accomplish the requirements of this Task, compliance with the
conditions and requirements described in this Task description, and final clean up of the work
place. If the price bid for mobilization and demobilization is greater than 15 percent (15%) of the
total contract price, invoices supporting the mobilization costs will be required before payment is
approved. Payment shall be made as described in Specification 1.0, Mobilization /
Demobilization of the General Bid Specifications, Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program,
2004.
Task 2. Channel Excavation
Ditch 8 was originally constructed using a synthetic, double layered liner system secured by soil
nails to a loose earthen foundation. Plastic and metal energy dissipation structures had been
placed within the lined channel to help diminish water velocities. The liner system ultimately did
not function as desired, and the channel now experiences significant erosion during rain and
snowmelt events.
Approximately 700 lineal feet of Ditch 8 and 45 lineal feet of small feeder channels will be
reconstructed.
The channel will be stabilized by accomplishing the following steps:
- The remnants of the liner system and the energy dissipation structures will be removed
from the channel. These materials will be disposed of at a licensed waste disposal
facility.
- The channel remnant will be excavated so that bedrock is exposed for a minimum cross
