According to Twentymile, the historic surface
mining operation at the site may have had some type of shop or storage area near where the current coal
stockpile is located. At the time of the inspection, they had not been able to identify the source of the Acetone
seeping to the surface and they have hired a Hazardous Materials contractor/consultant to assist them with the
identification of the source of the seep and its subsequent cleanup. Based on my observations during the
inspection, it appear that Twentymile is collecting the seeping material at the base of a berm and pumping the
material into storage containers and shipping it to the Milner Landfill. The seep is about 700 feet from Foidel
Creek and my supervisor requested that I inform CPW of the seep. Twentymile appears to be addressing the
seep in accordance with our rules. A copy of my inspection report is attached. Please see the "Other" section
of the report for details. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
Thank you,
Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist
COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
P 303.866.3567 ext. 8120 1 F 303.832.8106 1
1313 Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO 80203
jared.ebert@state.co.us I mining. state. co. us
INSP-REPORTC_C1982056_JLE_02162016073424.pdf
677K
https://m ail.google.com/mai I/u/0/?ui=2&i k=e29l29fcb5&view=pt&search=i nbox&th=152ead48dc4c4ead&si m l=152ead48dc4c4ead 1/1
