COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining( and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
February 11, 2016
To: Tabetha Lynch
From: Brock Bowles
Re: Williams Fork Mine (Permit No. C-1981-044)
Mid Term Review 7 (MT -7)
I have finished my mid-term review of the Williams Fork Mines. The permit was reviewed for
compliance with Rules 2.04.3, 2.04.12, 2.06.6, and 4.25 of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board.
Rule 2.04.3 — Site Description and Land Use Information
The information provided in the permit meets the requirement of Rule 2.04.3.
Rule 2.04.12 — Prime Farmland Investigation
The Williams Fork permit states that the BLM made a negative determination for the presence
of prime farmland based on soil type and precipitation. The BLM correspondence to support
this statement was not found in the permit.
A review of the Web Soil Survey shows that three soil types in the Williams Fork permit
boundary could be prime farmland if irrigated. The areas outlined as having the potential to be
prime farmland are not currently being irrigated or farmed, nor do they appear to have been
farmed. Also, according to the pre -mining land use section of the permit, there is no history of
irrigated farmland in the permit area. I don't have any questions or comments.
2.06.6 — Prime Farmlands
A negative determination has been made for the Williams Fork Mine, therefore this section is
not applicable.
° COLo\
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us
John W.
