RECEIVE®
//CCmCx FEB 0 5 2016
February 5,Zo6 DMONOF RECLAMATION
PIING AND SAFETY
Mr.Michael Cunningham Via FEDEX
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety TRK#7755 7174 2775
Environmental Protection Specialist
13i3 Sherman Street, Room 2i5
Denver,Colorado 80203
Re: CEMEX Lyons Mine Permit M-i977-208
Technical Revision No.i2, Revised Groundwater Monitoring Plan
Fourth Quarter 2015 Monitoring Data
Dear Mr.Cunningham:
This letter transmits the surface water and groundwater data associated with the sampling of cement kiln dust disposal
area(C-Pit).This report includes data from the C-Pit ponded water and related groundwater monitoring for the fourth
quarter of 2015,covering the reporting period October 1,2015 to December 3i,2015.Table i presents data for the last
four quarters.
For the fourth quarter compliance monitoring, water samples were collected on October 6,2015 from CEM-ooi and
CEM 004 groundwater monitoring wells, and from the C-Pit ponded water. The initial inspection of groundwater
monitoring well CEM 005 on October 6,2015,and follow up inspections(Table 1)indicated that there was not enough
volume of water to collect a representative sample.
The samples collected from C-Pit ponded water and groundwater wells were analyzed for pH,chloride, sulfate, total
dissolved solids, selenium, and thallium. The reported pH data is based on the pH analysis performed at the time of
sample collection in the field(Table 1). The measured pH at CEM-o04 was within the target levels prescribed by TR-i2 as
shown in Table 1. The analytical results for chloride, sulfate, total dissolved solids(TDS),selenium and thallium in
October 6,2105 samples were also within the target levels prescribed by TR-i2 as shown in Table 1. In addition,a Stiff
Diagram of the groundwater cation/anion data from CEM 004 compared to go%of the average cation/anion
concentration in C-Pit is provided in Figure i for reference. As shown in Figure i,the cation/anion signature for CEM-004
continues to be distinctly different from C-Pit,indicating there is no evidence of C-pit leakage into the groundwater
represented by well CEM-004.
4
LPU A.'wsA
^' LA190V.Average
CEM OM101U9.]Ot5
Calcium Bicarbonate
(as CaCO3)
Magnesium Carbonate
Potassium Chloride
a
Sodium Sulfate
t!M 00t
OMG10t5
Figure 1: Fourth quarter cation/anion data for CEM-004 compared to the
TR-12 C-Pit Monitoring and Trigger Parameters.
