A-3 to 11 inches; brown (7.5YR 4/2) clay, dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) moist; moderately fine <br />subangular blocky structure parting to strong fine granular; very hard, friable, sticky and <br />plastic, strongly effervescent, moderately alkaline; abrupt wavy boundary. <br />AC -11 to 19 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/2) clay loam, dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) moist; moderately <br />fine subangular blocky structure; very hard, friable, sticky and plastic; strongly <br />effervescent; calcium carbonate inconsistently segregated as few threads; moderately <br />alkaline; abrupt wavy boundary. <br />C1-19 to 41 inches; light reddish brown (5 YR 6/3) sandy clay loam, dark reddish brown (5 YR <br />4/2) moist; massive; very hard, friable, slightly sticky and plastic; strongly effervescent; <br />calcium carbonate inconsistently segregated as threads; moderately alkaline; abrupt wavy <br />boundary. <br />C2-41 to 60 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/2) clay, dark brown (7.5YR 3/21) moist; massive; <br />extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; strongly effervescent; calcium carbonate <br />inconsistently segregated as threads; moderately alkaline; abrupt wavy boundary. <br />Range in Characteristics <br />The hue is 5YR or 7.5YR. The particle -size control section is sandy clay loam, clay or <br />clay loam, stratified with thin lenses of fine sandy loam in some pedons. The clay content <br />averages 28 to 35 percent. The content of rock fragments is 0 to 15 percent, and the fragments <br />are predominately gravel -sized.
