PERMIT#:M-2000-034
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:ECS
INSPECTION DATE:February 3,2016
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Reichert Pit, DRMS permit M2000-034, a 112c sand and gravel
permit now held by Martin Marietta Materials (MMM). The inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS.
DRMS visited the site with MMM representative Julie Mikulas at approximately 0915.
The site is inactive at this time and is currently in its first period of temporary cessation (TC). It should be
noted that this first five year period of TC will expire in September of 2016. If MMM wishes to extend the TC
status beyond September 2016, they will need to inform DRMS in July to allow sufficient time for the item to
be placed on the Mined Land Reclamation Board's September agenda for consideration.
If mining activity is to resume at the site, a Technical Revision (TR) to the reclamation plan will need to be
submitted for DRMS approval, as the previously approved plan cannot be achieved. A portion of the permit
(approx. 4 ac.)that would have been reclaimed at part of a water storage reservoir was released through AR04.
In addition, the site area is currently locally zoned as"industrial commercial",while the currently permitted
post mining land use for this site is"wildlife habitat".
Since the last inspection was conducted in 2012,very little has changed at this site. The concrete plant
previously located near the site entrance has been fully removed from the site due to flood damage, but the pole
building remains (see attached photos). Although the site area has been disturbed by past use as a product
storage area and the excavation of some small areas that were intended to be utilized as settling ponds, it has not
been mined.
No other issues were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Julie Mikulas
Martin Marietta Materials,Inc.
1800 N.Taft Hill Road
Fort Collins,CO 80521
