McAtee Construction Company Riverside Pit
Permit# M-1976-056 2016 Annual Report
On September 16, 2013 the South Platte River over topped its banks south of the mine and flooded
much of the mine area. In Lake Robert the flood entered the south side of the mine and exited on
the north leaving an overflow channel. Annually since then, flood waters have enter Lake Robert
and the lake area continues to be filled. A Technical Revision was filed with the Division in July
2015 to allow us to monitor and do remedial reclamation of the filling area until it stabilizes. In
addition, we will be installing an armored outlet on the north end to prevent further erosion of that
bank. The West side of Lake Robert was disturbed by flooding and will need remedial work to
complete the reclamation once that area stabilizes.
NOTES:
(7) As noted above all of the reclamation complete in Lake Robert appears to have survived the
flood for the most part. The area around the east and north side have begun to return to near
pre-flood conditions except where water scoured soil and vegetation from the land along the river.
Approximately 4.72 acres of the old lake are has been backfilled to date.
(9) We backfilled approximately 0.88 acres along the north side of the West Lake. No new area
was reclaimed along the South Platte River in Lake Robert and remedial work continues in the Lake
Marjorie area to clean up and repair the flood damage.
(10) Mining continued on the south end of the West Lake, partially mining 0.72 acres +/- and we
may move into the area stripped. Construction of the armored outlet on the north end of Lake
Robert will be completed by spring runoff in 2016.
(13) Weed control was done in June 2015 this year in accordance with the Weed Management Plan
approved in 2012 on the perimeter of the mine and spot work was done on the Plant Site areas and
roadways. The Russian Olive trees removed have not returned. Weed control will continue as
described in the Weed Plan.
(18) The current bond is $131,200. It was reevaluated this fall and is adequate to complete
reclamation on the mine.
