cotter
Via Email and U.S. Mail
December 4. 2015
Mr. Michael Cunningham
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Schwartzwalder Mine, Permit No. M-1977-300
Water Quality Data and Mine Level Measurements for August and September 2015
Dear Mr. Cunningham:
With respect to the Schwartzwalder Mine site. enclosed please find monthly water quality monitoring
results and daily mine water level measurements for the month of August and September 2015
submitted by Cotter Corporation (N.S.L.) ("Cotter"). This submittal represents continuation of routine
monthly reporting of water quality monitoring results and daily mine pool levels. It includes data from
the new groundwater monitoring wells. There was not enough water in monitor well 16 to collect a
sample.
As discussed with you and Mr. Wally Erickson. Cotter's ICPMS experienced technical difficulties
during almost the entire month of September, hence the submittal of the results for August and
September via this letter. Because of the size of the files, rather than submitting multiple e -nails. the
data for both months can be retrieved at the following link:
Itttps://cotterusa.box.con1/s/dto2gmm phhc6tauukrps39men7bni ukr
Cotter also discussed the levels of uranium measured at BPL. which Cotter feels were caused by the
combination of poorly performing ion exchange resin and power outages. The power outages were due
to loss of service from United Power and site -wide electrical system damage caused by an animal
coming into contact with the site power distribution system. The resulting voltage surge damaged
electrical system components. including motors and other critical electrical equipment. Preliminary
data from October indicates the uranium levels at BPL have returned to pre -August and September
levels.
If you have any questions. please contact me at 719-275-7413 (ext. 202).
Sincerely.
5
John S.
