It is not currently used but if required a pipe will be installed as shown to allow clean water to flow
into the creek.
The primary non -potable water use at the quarry is for cooling, dust control and flushing of the saw
cuttings from the diamond wire saw and chain saw. Six diamond wire saws and four Fantini machines
are currently used for the production. Each saw consumes an average 5 gallons of water a minute.
This rate is not consumptive since the water is reused from settling ponds and sumps in the quarry.
Water from seepage into the quarry from surrounding formations is the source of this circulating,
non -potable water requirement. Potable water is brought to the site as required. Sanitary waste
facilities are portable toilets and do not require water.
A well permit was issued by the Colorado Division of Water Resources (Permit # 034872-F). The
excavated portion of the quarry is classified as a "well". There has been no reported effect on existing
water rights from past operators or Colorado Stone, and none is expected in the future.
1. Assumptions used for Hydrology Calculations
The following assumptions have been utilized for the drainage calculations:
• Runoff Curve Number: 89 Group D (all of the site is considered exposed rock or loose
moraine). This is very conservative in the forested areas.
• 100 -year event (to allow for permanent installation)
• Runoff Rainfall: 3.23 inches
• Storm Type II
The Pride of America DRMS 112c Exhibit G - 2
12/23/15
